‘Magawa,’ the world-famous, hero gold medalist African rat, died at the age of eight. According to international media accounts, a rat named Magawa sniffed out more than 100 landmines and explosives over his five-year career, saving people from enormous risk.

Magawa was healthy and spent most of the past week playing with his normal zeal, but by the end of the week, he began to slow down, sleep more, and show less interest in meals during the day, according to media sources.
