Banjul: On Dec 13, Ousainou Darboe, the runner-up in Gambia’s election, initiated a legal challenge to President Adama Barrow’s success, his party stated. Barrow gained a victory in Dec. 4 election with 53% of the vote, while Darboe got about 28%. This was the first election in 27 years without dictatorial former president Yahya Jammeh and was seen as a test of the tiny West African nation’s fragile democracy.
