Iran will escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and wider region if diplomacy with the US fails, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday, pointing to an Iranian policy shift relying on offense rather than defence. The official said that IRAN has decided to shift its policy from defensive to a ‘fully offensive’ one. He said that pressuring US or relying on mediators to reach a lasting peace is not realistic.
