The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is “urging airlines to increase capacity” for flights from the UAE and Oman to ensure British citizens can return home. In an email sent to citizens who have registered their presence in the region, the FCDO confirmed that a government charter flight is expected to depart from Muscat “in the coming days”. “If you are in Oman we will contact you about this option as soon as we know more,” the department stated. It added that teams are working 24/7 to provide support, noting: “We want resolution and for airspace to reopen so people can get home.”
