Fahmida Khatun, executive director at the Centre for Policy Dialogue in Dhaka, says that while there are a lot of familiar faces during this election, there are some new young candidates. Khatun added that Bangladesh’s election is in the interest of “many global players”, including neighbouring India. “Bangladesh has a diplomatic and economic relationship with India for a long time. But after the political change or an uprising in 2024, in many counts, this is a new era which has started,” Khatun added.
