An open letter, signed by 262 Czech media workers from 66 newsrooms, has urged Czech President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala to take action in support of journalists working under siege in Gaza. Czech Radio and Czech TV, the two public broadcasters, were among the most heavily represented. The appeal was organised by the independent outlet Denik Referendum. The letter demands immediate food and medical access for Gaza’s journalists through humanitarian corridors, an end to the blockade on foreign press, accountability for the killing of journalists, and long-term protection for those reporting in conflict zones.
