Sweden has called on the EU to issue sanctions against Israeli ministers who “actively work against a negotiated two-state solution”, in a reference to far-right cabinet members Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich. On Tuesday, the UK, Australia, Norway, Canada and New Zealand announced sanctions against the two ministers in a joint move. Sweden’s Foreign Minister Maria Stenergard has sent a letter to the EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, urging the bloc to follow suit.
