Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has criticised hearings at the UN’s highest court into Israel’s obligations to ensure humanitarian aid gets to Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories. Speaking in Jerusalem as the hearings began in The Hague, Mr Saar complained of a “systematic persecution and delegitimisation” of his country. He said the court was “becoming completely politicised” and called the week-long proceedings “shameful.” “It is not Israel that should be on trial. It is the UN and UNRWA”, he added, referring to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.
