Palestine’s top leadership body has approved the creation of a vice president position, marking the first such change since the organisation’s founding in 1964. The Palestinian Central Council approved the proposal to establish the position, which will also serve as the vice president of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation. In a vote held on Thursday, 170 members participating in person and via Zoom backed the move, with one voting against and another abstaining.
