The State Department has imposed sanctions on Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and former Minister of Planning Julio Miguel De Vido over what it calls “involvement in significant corruption”. Fernandez de Kirchner served as Argentina’s president from 2007 to 2015 and vice president from 2011 to 2015. She has been sentenced to six years in prison and banned from holding public office in Argentina over a corruption case. But she has not been jailed as she appeals and claims immunity.
