The Israeli army said its troops had begun an operation in Shujaiya in the Gaza city following “intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists and terrorist infrastructure in the area”. The army said in a statement that over the past day troops began activity in the area “both above and below ground.” Troops “started to conduct targeted raids in the area overnight, backed by air strikes on “dozens of Hamas terrorist infrastructure sites,” it said.
