The arrogant cartoonist Lars Wilkes was riding in a car when it crashed with a truck outside the southern Swedish town of Marquared, according to the local news agency. Two of his security officers were also slain in the event. After drawing profane caricatures, the government provided security to the cartoonist, who was accompanied by policemen.
According to a police statement, it was unclear how the automobile and truck collided at first, but there was no sign that anyone was injured. He was attacked during a debate on freedom of expression in which he took part.
