The head of the UN children’s fund visited the Gaza Strip, meeting with children who have been wounded and displaced by Israeli air strikes. During her visit, Unicef executive director Catherine Russell condemned the “grave violations” being committed in the Israel-Gaza war. “Today I visited the Gaza Strip to meet with children, their families, and Unicef staff,” said Ms Russell. “What I saw and heard was devastating. They have endured repeated bombardment, loss, and displacement. Inside the Strip, there is nowhere safe for Gaza’s one million children to turn,” she added.
