Yemen’s Houthis said that they attacked US warships with ballistic missiles in the Gulf of Aden and Bab Al Mandeb strait while they were protecting two American commercial vessels. The “clash” led to a US warship being directly hit and forced the two commercial vessels “to withdraw and return”, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said. A US official reported on background that it was aware of the report and is looking into it.
