The US and its allies should increase strikes on the Houthis to protect shipping and stop the spread of a regional conflict, the deputy chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council has said. Aidarus Al Zoubaidi urged the US and its allies to support troops from his government in an anti-Houthi coalition. In an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mr Al Zoubaidi said the Houthis taken the region to the brink of conflict. He added that they had emboldened terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and left Yemenis to starve.
