The flotilla was organised in response to Israel’s ongoing genocidal war and limits on humanitarian aid, which have resulted in famine in the besieged strip. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, a world hunger monitor, declared famine in Gaza in August after more than 22 months of war. Israeli forces have destroyed medical facilities, schools and bakeries while blocking the entry of aid and targeting Palestinians seeking food.
