In India, there have been 256 attempts on the life of journalists. Worse things happened in Kashmir, according to a report by a US NGO, 256 incidents of violence against journalists have been reported in India in the last two years.

The events from May through August of this year were examined by the Police Project, a non-profit organisation. There were 51 incidents of violence against journalists in Jammu and Kashmir, 26 during protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act, 19 during the February 2020 riots in New Delhi, and 46 while covering the Code cases, according to the study.
