The US destroyed several Houthi cruise missiles aimed at the Red Sea on Sunday, the US military has said. A military statement said it struck a Houthi land attack cruise missile “in self defence” before later destroying four anti-ship cruise missiles, “all of which were prepared to launch against ships in the Red Sea”. “US forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined they presented an imminent threat to US Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region,” it added.
