Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US ambassador to the UN, said that “the lives of innocent Palestinians must be protected” as Israel takes on an escalated operation in the Gaza Strip. “We mourn the loss of every single innocent life in this crisis,” Ms Thomas-Greenfield posted on X, formerly Twitter. “The lives of UN personnel and humanitarian workers and journalists must be protected,” she added.
