The UN welcomed Israel’s announcement of a “tactical pause” in some of its Gaza operations to allow aid into the enclave, but has called for more “concrete measures”. Israel said it would introduce a “local, tactical pause of military activity” during daylight hours in an area of Rafah to enable humanitarian supplies to cross the border. “We welcome this announcement,” UN aid agency spokesman Jens Laerke said.
