The UN’s humanitarian affairs chief responded to an announcement by Israel that it is to halt all further approvals of food convoys headed to northern Gaza. Martin Griffiths said in a post on X that he urged Israel to “lift all impediments on aid to Gaza”. He added: “UNRWA is the beating heart of the humanitarian response in Gaza” and that by blocking food convoys, Israel was only pushing “thousands closer to famine. It must be revoked.”
