The UN’s aid chief said that Israeli military operations in Rafah could lead to a “slaughter” and leave humanitarian operations in the enclave at “death’s door”. “The international community has been warning against the dangerous consequences of any ground invasion in Rafah,” Martin Griffiths, undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs, said in a statement. “The government of Israel cannot continue to ignore these calls. History will not be kind,” he added.
