Two Turkish naval ships have arrived in Beirut to evacuate about 2,000 people as the violence in Lebanon escalates, a statement from Turkey’s Defence Ministry said. Two navy vessels were escorted by four smaller boats from the Turkish port of Mersin to the Lebanese capital, where personnel from Turkey’s military and government humanitarian aid agency unloaded 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid supplies.
