Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he has tested positive for Covid-19.

Erdogan on Saturday tweeted that he was infected by the Omicron variant of the virus.

The President said he and his wife were having mild symptoms of Covid-19, adding that he will continue his work at home.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Turkey has roughly doubled since early January, as the Omicron variant cases have spread swiftly across the country.
