Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has said it welcomes the plan for Gaza’s reconstruction and future governance put forward by Arab League members in Cairo as an alternative to US President Donald Trump’s vision for the coastal strip. Ankara did not send a representative to the Arab League meeting, but Turkish officials have repeatedly stated that they support a ceasefire deal for the Palestinian enclave. They have rejected Mr Trump’s proposal to displace Gazans from the strip and rebuild it as a coastal resort.
