The pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan comes at a time when there are “clear-cut explicit threats in the region,” says Abdulaziz Alghashian, senior non-resident fellow at the Gulf International Forum. “There are a lot of sources of military threat that are manifesting before our very eyes and also nightmare scenarios that are just manifesting before our very eyes. So I think there is an undoubted sense of need for security,” Alghashian told Al Jazeera from Riyadh.
