Damascus has accused the Kurdish-led groups the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) of war crimes, alleging executions were carried out in Tabqa before their fighters withdrew from the area. “The killings add to a long record of abuses against civilians in regions under their control,” the government was quoted as saying by the state-run SANA news agency. It also accused the two groups of having deep ties with “striking similarities in their methods of repression and patterns of human rights violations”.
