The South African parliament is due to vote today on the fate of the Israeli embassy, with some lawmakers calling for the Israeli mission to be closed and all diplomatic ties to be suspended. It comes a day after Israel recalled Eliav Belotserkovsky, its ambassador to South Africa, to Jerusalem “for consultations” ahead of the vote. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa previously said his country believes Israel is committing war crimes and genocide in Gaza.
