State media reported, citing the Ministry of Defence that six Russian soldiers were killed in a fire in a bunker in western Russia’s Kursk region. The ministry said the fire was the result of a “gross violation” of safety rules, the state-owned RIA Novosti news agency reported. The fire occurred near the village of Ulanok, fewer than 10km (six miles) from Ukraine’s northeastern border with Russia, the TASS news agency reported, citing emergency services.
