According to reports, six persons were burned after a fire broke out overnight in an underground line of an oil refinery in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area, according to rescue officials.

The fire has been brought under control presently.

Four of the injured with severe burns were transferred to the burns unit at Civil hospital, while the other two were taken to Jinnah hospital, according to rescue officials.

Workers at the oil refinery in Korangi’s Mehran Town Sector 15 were patching a leak in an underground line. A spark ignited a fire that erupted with an explosion during excavation operations while they were working on the repairs.
