Water shortage worse than expected: Sources

During the Kharif season, which began on April 1 with the sowing of important crops such as cotton, sugarcane, rice, and maize, Pakistan is experiencing a severe water scarcity of 38% for irrigation reasons. On Thursday, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA), which regulates and monitors the allocation of Indus River water sources among the four federating units, presented a presentation before the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Water Resources. Govt focused on development of dams:PM Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the construction of 10 new dams. PM announced that the Government had decided to build 10 dams, to enhance Pakistan’s water shortage capacity, create more resources and protect future generations in the process. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Tarbela Dam’s fifth Extension Hydropower project, PM Imran Khan said, “The Mohmand and Basha Dams will be constructed by 2025 and 2028 respectively”.
