PIMS fire: Inquiry report reveals treatment, facilities fall 'below global standards'

The initial inquiry report into the deadly fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) nursery said the hospital’s treatment and facilities fell below global standards, sources said on Saturday. The report, submitted to PM Sharif, also identified the causes of the incident and determined those responsible for the tragedy, they added. The report recommended immediate action against those held responsible for the incident, along with disciplinary proceedings against relevant Pims staff members who were absent when the fire broke out. PTA reveals number of registered VPNs in Pakistan

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday said as many as 25,000 individuals have registered their Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in the country. The PTA chief was speaking at the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on IT, chaired by Palwasha Khan in Islamabad. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has revealed that a fault in the submarine cable is the reason behind the recent internet disruption in Pakistan. As per details, PTA Chairman, Hafiz Rahman, briefed the Standing Committee on Information Technology, chaired by Syed Aminul Haque, on the matter.
