ECP suspends membership of 159 lawmakers over failure to submit financial statements

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday suspended the membership of as many as 159 lawmakers belonging to different legislatures for failing to submit their financial statements. According to notification, Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Federal Education Minister and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Syed Ali Musa Gilani and Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Saira Tarar are among those whose memberships have been suspended. ECP announces to hold LG polls in Islamabad on February 15

In a major development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday announced that local government elections in Islamabad will be held on February 15, 2026. In a statement, the election commission said that polling will take place from 8am to 4pm. Returning officers will issue public notices for nomination papers on December 19, 2025, while candidates can submit their nomination papers between December 22 and 27, 2025, the ECP said. LG polls in Punjab to be held in December, rules ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday pronounced its verdict in a case pertaining to the delay in the local bodies polls in Punjab, ruling that local government elections in the country's most populated province will be held in the last week of December 2025. Headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Raja Sultan, the ECP bench also ruled that the delimitation process be started from Thursday. ECP disqualifies Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz other PTI lawmakers

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers including Opposition leader in National Assembly Omar Ayub and Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz after conviction in May 9 riots cases. Reserved seats: PTI moves SC after NA speaker’s letter to ECP

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday approached the Supreme Court (SC), requesting it to restrain the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from allocating reserved seats to any other political party. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan filed a plea through Aziz Karamat Bhandari after National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq wrote a letter to the ECP. IHC nullifies ECP’s verdict to replace election tribunal judge

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has nullified the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s verdict to replace Election Tribunal judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri. As per details, Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the case and announced the verdict which was reserved earlier. ECP asks parliamentarians to submit assets’ details by Dec 31

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday asked the Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies to submit to the Election Commission by 31st December, 2024, yearly Statements of Assets and Liabilities including their spouse and dependent children as on the preceding thirtieth day of June on Form-B for the financial year 2023-24. ECP notifies 39 MNAs as PTI lawmakers

PTI reserved seats: ECP decides to implement SC verdict

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to implement the Supreme Court (SC) verdict declaring PTI eligible for reserved seats. According to the ECP spokesperson, the commission has issued instructions to its legal team to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court decision.
