New hantavirus cases emerge as governments quarantine cruise passenger

Hantavirus infections have been confirmed in France and the United States among passengers repatriated from the expedition cruise ship MV Hondius, health officials said Monday, as more than 20 countries imposed quarantine measures on returning travellers linked to the outbreak. The outbreak has so far resulted in eight reported cases, including three deaths, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The victims were a Dutch husband and wife and a German woman. Pakistan, US to launch joint operations against ‘fake' visa networks

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday that the government has implemented a “zero-tolerance policy” against illegal immigration, leading to a 47% decline in such cases. During a meeting with acting US Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, the minister discussed expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest and further strengthening Pakistan-US relations. According to the ministry, both officials discussed enhancing collaboration to curb illegal immigration and improve pre-immigration clearance systems. KP govt decides to quash 'politically motivated' May 9 vandalism cases

EU to halt multi-entry visas for most Russians

The EU is preparing to sharply tighten visa rules for Russian citizens, ending the issuance of multi-entry Schengen permits in most cases as part of new measures targetting Russia amid Moscow’s ongoing war in Ukraine, POLITICO reported on Wednesday, citing three European officials. SC grants bail to PTI founder in eight May 9 cases

The Supreme Court (SC) has approved bail for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in eight cases related to the events of May 9. A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shafi Siddiqui, presided over the proceedings. May 9 cases: Court orders seizure of convicts’ properties

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has ordered the seizure of properties of convicts in May 9 cases. The court handed down 10-year prison sentences to four senior PTI leaders in connection with two May 9 arson cases.
