GB Hunting Permits Fetch High Bids

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan’s Wildlife and Parks Department auctioned hunting permits for 117 animals for the 2026-27 trophy hunting season, with an Astore markhor permit fetching a record $356,000. Other markhor permits also attracted high bids. Officials expect to generate Rs650 million from the season, covering three markhors, 14 blue sheep and 100 Himalayan ibexes through April 2027. Met Office forecast widespread rains in country from tomorrow

Met Office has forecast widespread rains in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan from August 29 (Friday). Pakistan Meteorological Department in a weather report said that strong monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal likely to enter in upper parts of the country from tomorrow. A westerly wave is also likely to approach upper and central parts of the country from 30th August (Saturday). PAF successfully conducts rescue mission in GB flood-hit areas 

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully completed a rescue mission in Gilgit-Baltistan, safely evacuating stranded tourists and locals amid severe flash flooding after a cloudburst. According to the details, a PAF C-130 aircraft carried out the mission and transported a total of 125 individuals to safety. The aircraft landed at Qadri Base at 7:55 AM, where the passengers were boarded. Among those rescued were 82 civilians, 25 personnel from the Pakistan Army, and 18 from the Pakistan Air Force. Nine dead, over 500 homes destroyed in GB floods

At least nine people have lost their lives in the ongoing flood emergency in Gilgit-Baltistan, including two women and two children. Speaking to the media, the spokesperson confirmed that 10 to 12 individuals remain missing as search operations continue in Gilgit-Baltistan. Babusar Top cloudburst: All tourists rescued, says GB govt spokesperson

Gilgit-Baltistan spokesperson, Faizullah Faraq, confirmed Wednesday that all tourists and travelers stranded on the Babusar Top Pass highway have been successfully rescued and relocated to safe areas. According to the spokesperson, nearly 250 tourists have been evacuated to secure locations. However, the search continues for missing individuals, with eyewitnesses suggesting that between 10 to 15 people may still be unaccounted for. Babusar Top: Cloudburst kills at least five tourists, several missing

Rescue teams retrieved five bodies of tourists who, along with others, went missing in flash floods triggered by cloudburst at Babusar Top in Gilgit-Baltistan. According to reports, torrential rains triggered destructive flash floods in Chilas, sweeping away more than 15 tourist vehicles. Rescue teams have recovered five bodies and rescued four individuals. The operation to locate the remaining missing tourists continues. Spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, Faizullah Faraq, confirmed that efforts to locate the missing are ongoing. Snowfall brings frosty weather back in GB region

Snowfall at various areas of Gilgit Baltistan amid the hot weather of May brought frosty weather again in the region. Tourists in Diamer and Chilas region enjoyed an unexpected treat with turn of the weather as snowflakes from the sky dropped to the surface. Mercury dropped below to the freezing point at Babusar Top, Nanga Parbat and Battugah Top with the snowfall. Babusar Naran highway closed for the traffic owing to the snowfall. Former CM Gilgit-Baltistan gets 34-year jail term in hate speech case

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gilgit awarded 34-year jail term to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid in a hate speech case. According to details, Khalid Khurshid has also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 600,000, ATC judge in Gilgit Rahmat Shah pronounced his verdict in multiple sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
