While Addressing a consultative conference on terrorism in Islamabad, Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry asserted that extremism was rather rooted in schools and colleges than madrassahs of Pakistan. He added that the teachers during the 80s and 90s were hired as part of a conspiracy to “basically teach extremism”. Chaudhry said that the students of “ordinary schools and colleges” carried out notable incidents of extremism in Pakistan and not of madrassahs.
