Saudi-Turkiye-Pakistan security pact has ‘substantive deterrence aspects’

The joint defence deal between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan signals a major “security realignment” with international implications, says London-based military analyst Alex Alfirraz Scheers. Speaking to Al Jazeera, he said the regional pact offers the three countries additional protection amid concerns about US security guarantees. “There have been a lot of doubts about whether the US is a reliable security guarantor… whether the US is actually a reliable provider of weaponry, especially in the form of air capabilities, such as fighter jets,” said Scheers.
