Moscow: On Dec 23, President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia wants to avoid conflict with Ukraine and the West but it needed an “immediate” response from the US and its allies to its demands for security assurances. He disclosed that a new ceasefire would be starting in the first few hours in eastern Ukraine and peace talks would start in the early new year in Geneva.
