According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 5.8 million Ukrainian refugees are living outside Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. Many people have sought refuge in neighbouring countries. The latest data shows 1,014,210 refugees recorded in Poland, 195,550 in Romania, 6,280 in Russia, 64,470 in Hungary, 147,370 in Slovakia, 138,060 in Moldova and 41,310 in Belarus. Most of the displaced have been women and children. Men aged 18 to 60 have been asked to remain in Ukraine to fight.
