On Wednesday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry expelled a Lithuanian diplomat in retaliation after they declared Russia’s diplomat persona non grata (unwelcome). In a statement on its website, the ministry said it “reserves the right to take additional measures” in response to what it called Lithuania’s “unfriendly steps”. Europe and other Western countries have expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats since Moscow invaded Ukraine, many of them for alleged spying, to which Russia has responded the same.
