When asked about communication with Trump, Qatar’s MoFA spokesperson al-Ansari said “contacts will continue”. Referring to Trump’s announcement that he had postponed a planned attack on Iran at the request of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, he said: “Yes, it means a good response”. When asked about relations with Tehran, he said Qatar continues to be in contact, and the countries have “positive relations”, at the same time acknowledging that “Iran has chosen to attack Qatar, and this is a threat to the relations between both countries”.
