Qatar and Egypt said that their efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza will continue, despite Israel appearing to abandon peace talks. The two Arab countries have been mediating talks on a potential 60-day truce between Israel and Hamas, but the US and Israel withdrew negotiating teams on Thursday. In a statement, Qatar and Egypt said there had been “some progress made during the most recent round of intensive negotiations, which lasted three weeks”.
