Al-Sharaa is to become Syria’s first president to attend the World Economic Forum, which began today in Davos, Switzerland. The event gathers world leaders, business elites and civil society actors in the small town of Davos for a few days of opining on the biggest global challenges. Syria’s economy has been devastated by 14 years of war, and al-Sharaa is making efforts to bring it back to life as the country becomes more stable and trade deals increase. He is due to appear in Davos on Thursday.
