A police raid on a favela near Rio de Janeiro state has left at least 11 people dead, including the suspected leader of a crime gang active in the north of Brazil, local media reported. Civil police confirmed that a raid was “still active” in the Salgueiro Complex in Sao Goncalo on Thursday, part of the Rio metropolitan region.
