Palestinian envoy to the UK Husam Zomlot said “history is being made”, after Spain, Ireland and Norway recognised an independent state of Palestine on Wednesday. “This will move us closer to justice and a sustainable peace,” Mr Zomlot said, who heads the Palestine Mission to the UK. In January, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron indicated the UK could formally recognise and establish diplomatic relations with a Palestinian state as part of peace negotiations in the Israel-Gaza war.
