As the general election in 2023 approaches, preparations for the country’s seventh census have begun. This will be the Islamic Republic’s first digital population survey, with a budget of Rs23 billion, and would be a meaningful step towards Digital Pakistan, a rallying cry of the governing Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) administration.

A total of Rs. 5 billion has been set up for the mega survey beginning with the current fiscal year, and each enumerator will be given a tablet device for data input in the preparation of the census, which is estimated to take 18 months to complete.
