The nation on Saturday celebrated Pakistan Day with a renewed pledge to work hard for the progress and stability of Pakistan. This day is celebrated to commemorate the Lahore Resolution passed on 23 March 1940 and the adoption of the first Constitution of Pakistan on 23 March 1956 making Pakistan the world’s first Islamic Republic. The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for the prosperity and solidarity of the country. The national flag is hoisted on major government buildings.
