The Israeli army has intensified strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 36 Palestinians and injuring others overnight into Wednesday, official media reported. The fresh attacks came as Israel and Hamas appeared to be narrowing in on a ceasefire deal to end the 15-month war and release dozens of hostages. In central Gaza, 11 people were killed and others injured, some of them seriously, in an attack on a house in Deir Al Balah. A separate attack on a house killed two in the city, Wafa news agency reported.
