Herzog urges Israeli parties to avoid another election after vote deadlock

Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who could be about to play a pivotal role in the process to form the next Israeli government, reiterated his desire to avoid the country going to another round of elections, in his first comments since exit polls showed a deadlock in Tuesday’s vote. “One thing must be clear, and I said this before the elections too: we must do everything we can, certainly after yesterday, to avoid another round of elections. So I expect everyone who comes here to come with an open mind,” Mr Herzog said.
