Pakistan has warned the United Nations against allowing budget cuts to undermine its peacekeeping operations. Addressing the General Assembly, Ambassador Syed Haider Shah said financial constraints must not weaken missions’ ability to maintain international peace and security. The UN has approved a $5.1 billion peacekeeping budget for 2026-27, around 10 per cent lower than the previous year. Pakistan also called for better protection of peacekeepers and accountability for attacks against them.
